Book sale
The Ashcroft Library is holding a book sale from Tuesday, June 13 to Saturday, June 17 during regular library hours (10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday; 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 1 to 7 p.m. Friday). There will also be a one day only “last chance” on Tuesday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with all remaining books priced at $2 per box while quantities last (please bring your own box).
There will also be a small book sale table at the Desert Sands Community School fun fair on Thursday, June 8 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Computer courses
The final computer course of the season, before the sessions end for the summer, will be a Windows 10 course on Saturday, June 24. Participants will learn how to use the start menu, organize tiles, and search for files, apps, and settings. Discover the Windows store and the new method of finding, downloading, and installing apps, and find out about Microsoft accounts and how they affect the Windows 10 experience.
It is recommended that participants have basic computing skills before taking part in this course. Seating is limited, and registration is necessary. To register, visit the library during regular hours, or contact branch head Deanna Porter at dporter@tnrd.ca for more information.
The computer courses will start again in September.
Meeting room
Did you know that the Ashcroft Library has a meeting room for rent? There is a small kitchen facility and washroom access at the site, which is available to rent for $20 (for-profit groups) or $10 (non-profit organizations). For more information email branch head Deanna Porter.
Summer Reading Club
The TNRD Library System is inviting children aged seven to 12 to “Walk on the Wild Side” during this year’s BC Summer Reading Club. The club makes reading fun by inviting kids to read what they want, and helps keep reading skills sharp during the summer months when school is out.
Children are challenged to read every day for seven weeks starting on July 3, earning them a medal and an opportunity to win cool prizes. Beginning on June 12, kids can pick up their free sign-up package from their local library; watch this space for more details about special Summer Reading Club events at area libraries.
