Easter Egg hunt
The annual Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt went ahead on Sunday, April 21 with a bit of sun and a little over 60 happy egg-hunters. The hunt is hosted each year by the Spirit of Clinton’s Recreation Commission and takes place in Reg Conn Park for kids aged 12 and under.
The hunt began at 1 p.m. after parents signed children up for a prize. Kids and volunteers alike were grateful for the lack of snow at this year’s event, and enjoyed the windy day outside with plenty of Easter-themed prizes and healthy refreshments. Thanks again to all who attended, and to the generous volunteers who donated their time to help. Without the Spirit of Clinton Committee and its devoted volunteers, events like this one would not be possible for the community.

New local bus service available May 2
A new bus service will soon be available to Clinton residents, and is part of two inter-city bus routes in the Cariboo, Fraser Canyon, and Kamloops regions. Adventure Charters Inter-City Bus was approved by Transport Canada earlier this month, and will begin servicing passengers on its routes on May 2. The two new routes will transport passengers from Prince George to Surrey and from Williams Lake to Kamloops.
Janna Gertzen is the owner of Adventure Charters, and says that she was very pleasantly surprised by passengers interested in “close-community hops, like 100 Mile House to Williams Lake, for instance.”
Since the initial schedules favoured longer trips, Adventure Charters has made plans to introduce fares that will be more suited to shorter ones. The Adventure Charters bus that travels from Williams Lake to Kamloops has a capacity of 20 riders, while the Prince George to Surrey bus can accommodate as many as 36. Gertzen says that their current twice-weekly schedule is a starting point only, and that the company is fully prepared to add more buses as necessary.
Clinton is one of the stops available via pre-booked bus tickets, which can be purchased online. Ticket costs are based on a zoning system. For example, communities between Williams Lake and Kamloops are all within Zone 2, and travelling within one zone will cost you $65; the cost rises for travel between two zones. For more ticketing information, visit https://www.adventurecharters.ca/.
The company’s operating manager, Randy Gertzen, says that feedback for the operation has been terrific so far. “It’s clear that people felt the void Greyhound left when they cancelled passenger service in this region. Adventure Charters is ready to get the wheels turning.”
Williams Lake-based Adventure Charters has been providing transportation services to a wide variety of customers since 2005. Their operations have included daily scheduled employee transportation to remote work sites, contracted tourism transportation charters, team and educational travel, and event and party transportation. They are a fully licensed passenger transport company with a National Safety Code Certificate.
