High speed internet open house
On Wednesday, March 6, ABC Communications will host a public open house from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clinton Memorial Hall, to offer information on the installation of fibre-optic internet in the Village. To sign up for fibre link residential internet options in Clinton, or learn more about the packages that will soon be available to locals, residents can and should attend this open house.
Co-ed hockey tournament
On Saturday, March 9 a co-ed drop-in hockey tournament will take place at Clinton’s arena. All three games will happen on Saturday at the 47 Mile Sports Complex from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The registration cost is $25 per person.
Youth Matters: Wellness Day
On Friday, March 15 a “Wellness Day” will take place at the Clinton Memorial Hall to honour the community’s youth in an event called “Youth Matters”. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will feature motivational speaker Mike Scott.
In addition to Scott’s talk—“Finding the Warrior Within”—there will also be a TRU Wellness team on site to share personal testimonies on loss, addiction, and self harm. There will be CPR and naloxone training at this event, as well as door prizes and refreshments.
Everyone is welcome to attend. The day’s activities are sponsored by High Bar First Nation and United Way.
Step-by-step Paint Party returns
Sherri Gagnon will return to Clinton this March to help locals unleash their inner artist in a step-by-step painting event. No experience is required, and all supplies are provided for the evening, which also features door prizes, free draws, and an entry to win a trip for two to Las Vegas! Painters will be creating a nature scene of a bear.
The Paint Party will take place on Wednesday, March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cariboo Lodge. Registration is required for this event, and interested individuals can sign up by contacting Sherri Gagnon via email at ecanvasgagnon@gmail.com.
“BC Perseverance” highlighted in YouTube video
In 2017, the Elephant Hill wildfire surrounded Loon Lake: the resort, its owners, campsites, residences, and visitors. The Village of Clinton was also affected by the wildfire, but since then the region has once again begun to flourish.
A new YouTube video funded by NDIT in partnership with the Thompson Nicola Film Commission seeks to highlight the perseverance of the small community of Loon Lake in the aftermath of the Elephant Hill wildfire, while also showcasing the resilience of the entire province. The video was filmed by Joy Factory and premiered on YouTube on Feb. 20.
