VOC seeks to hire Director of Financial Services

The Village of Clinton is seeking to fill the position of Director of Financial Services, a senior management position that includes responsibility for the overall financial administration of the municipality.

The Director of Financial Services will report to the CAO and will be responsible for the statutory duties of the financial officer under the Community Charter and Public Sector Accounting Board principles. The DOFS will also provide leadership concerning the budget, financial planning, policies, collections, and asset management. The position includes responsibility for annual municipal financial reports and related bylaws, and requires that the DOFS attend relevant council meetings.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a recognized accounting designation as well as a minimum of three years’ senior municipal or related accounting and managerial experience. Additionally, the candidate should be well acquainted with programs such as Microsoft Office and Muniware. The position includes an excellent benefits package, along with a competitive salary, experience, and qualifications.

47 Mile Sports Complex holiday hours

The 47 Mile Sports Complex will be closed December 24 to 26. The arena will resume regular operating hours on Wednesday, December 27.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held on Sunday, December 24 at the Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, 308 Dewdney Avenue, Clinton. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include candle lighting, Christmas carols, a Christmas message, and tasty treats. All are welcome!

New Year’s Eve in Clinton

Have you decided how you’ll be ringing in the new year? Fear not; if you’ve yet to organize plans for New Year’s Eve, there are options for adults to enjoy a night out in the Village of Clinton.

“New Year’s Eve at the Legion”: On Sunday, December 31, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #194 will host its annual New Year’s Eve Party with DJ Tom Moe (Rolling Thunder) providing the entertainment. Tickets are now on sale for $25 and can be purchased at the Legion, but space is limited, so be sure to get your tickets soon. The event will take place at the Legion at 310 Le Bourdais Avenue.

“New Year’s 2018 at Old School’s Bar and Grill”: Old School’s will also host a New Year’s Eve party, which includes a roast beef buffet dinner, live band, and free champagne at midnight, too! Only 50 dinner tickets will be available, and they will be priced at $35 each for the evening; however, cover charge without a dinner ticket will cost only $10. Guests will also get to enjoy the musical stylings of the band “Class Mates” and will be served appetizer plates throughout the evening. The event will take place at 1613 Cariboo Highway, Clinton.
