On Tuesday, May 16, St. Alban’s Anglican Church in Ashcroft hosted the Soup’s On volunteers to a special afternoon.

Thanks to the work of Cecile Dewick and Alice Durksen from St. Alban’s, the team leaders and their helpers were invited to come and be served: our way of thanking them for all those that they serve!

On the menu was a strawberry shortcake tea, and there were words of thanks to all, especially to Karyn Bryson, who has taken over the coordination reins as well as led a team.

Karyn has guided our various teams through a very busy year, with special meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Special thanks was also expressed for those who do Soup’s On when they can: the Ashcroft Terminal and their leader, Shannon; the E. Fry and Interior Savings Team; and the United Steelworkers team from the mine, who provide a wonderful barbecue in the summer.

Those who attended also received small gifts: potted plants and soaps or writing cards.

Thank you to all who support us at Soup’s On and all who attend our time of food and fellowship every Friday. If you are able, consider working with Karyn as she steps back from her leadership role.
