From the Oct. 31, 1984 Observer: "There was a bit of huffing and puffing at Rotary Gardens, Saturday, as some 20 Rotarians on a morning and afternoon shift laid over 40,000 square feet of sod.  Rotary Gardens was recently expanded and another volunteer crew will put the finishing touches on the courtyard next weekend. Here, mayor Alf Ames, left, Duncan Myers and son Erik, and Dave Duncan place sod over raked earth." Image courtesy the Observer collection in the Archives at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum.
