Paramedic ride tours through Okanagan/Shuswap

Ride raising funds for a national memorial honouring paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty

The Tour Paramedic Ride of British Columbia cycled through Kelowna on June 10 for the second day of their journey.

The route began in Osoyoos on June 9 where riders toured north 110 kilometres to Peachland.

On Tuesday, cyclists will travel from West Kelowna 65 kms to Vernon, followed by day three which takes them 90 kms to Sorrento. The tour will end after a 75 km ride to Kamloops on June 12.

The four-day event is more than just physical endurance it is an opportunity to cycle through the B.C. interior while supporting a meaningful cause - building a national memorial honouring paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

While fundraising is not mandatory participants were challenged to raise $250 to support the cause. Every dollar collected will be directly donated to the Canadian Paramedic Memorial Foundation.

“By riding, we also pay tribute to those who suffer in silence, shedding light on the often unseen challenges many paramedics face,” stated a release by the Tour Paramedic Ride.

Rides take place across the country and to date, more  than $300,000 has been raised for a national memorial monument. Since 2022, the ride has also helped to support charities that assist paramedics and their families affected by occupational trauma.
