Lytton RCMP responded to 85 calls for service from Nov. 15 to Dec. 20, including 32 traffic-related complaints.
Assault witnessed
On Nov. 29, a visitor to Lytton witnessed an assault taking place at Main Street and Fifth Street. The male suspect was seen dragging a woman by her hair behind a building and then punching her. Police were on scene almost immediately, and the intoxicated man was arrested and transported to cells in Lillooet. He was later released with a court date in the New Year.
Tragic collision
On Nov. 30, a tragic collision occurred at the junction of Main Street and the Trans-Canada Highway, where a small sedan was struck by a full-size pickup. While the driver of the pick-up was uninjured, the driver of the car was not responsive. After being extricated from the car, the driver was flown to Royal Inland Hospital, but later passed away as a result of her injuries. Traffic Services from Kamloops and a Traffic Reconstructionist are investigating the crash.
Know the rules at the ferry
On Dec. 13 we were advised of a dispute at the reaction ferry regarding over-size and over-length. Recently, Transport Canada and others attended to provide clear direction to users and operators. DriveBC has clear information: the ferry capacity is nine tonnes and maximum length is twelve metres.
Tractor-trailer vandalized
On Dec. 18, we attended to a tractor-trailer parked near the Skuppah Band on the Trans-Canada Highway. The wood chip hauler had 12 of its tires destroyed by somebody using a drill to cut through the sidewalls of the tires. This occurred between Dec. 10 and 15.
