The Ashcroft-Cache Creek Seniors met on March 21, following a potluck lunch with healthy (and not so healthy) choices of everything from soup to nuts.
The general meeting began with the singing of “O Canada”, and there were positive reports from all the committees. We are once again offering a bursary to a graduating Desert Sands Community School student, and the annual spring Strawberry Tea and Bazaar will be held in late May.
The election of officers for the upcoming year is coming soon: time to offer your name for a new position. We are always looking for new ideas and new faces.
The meeting closed with the singing of “Happy Birthday” to all members who celebrated their birthday in March. After that, everyone quickly found partners and tables to end the day with some card playing, with the serious Bridge players and the Hand and Foot groups finding plenty to chat about.
The AngleBay Players are once again presenting their popular Pig and Whistle musical event in Anglemont during the last week of April. Tickets and lunch are $20, with bus fare extra.
The trip is open to all seniors who want to att, and pre-registration is needed to ensure we have enough participants to make the bus rental affordable. For information, or to register, contact any member of the Seniors’ Association, or drop by the Centre.
The Centre is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, with cards each day, and there is Bingo—which is open to anyone aged 19 and older—on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The more Bingo players there are, the bigger the prizes! So if you’re sitting at home on Saturday afternoon and like Bingo, head to the Seniors’ Centre on Bancroft Street. Coffee and goodies are provided, and where else can you get free coffee?
