Thursday, Dec. 13 saw the members of the Ashcroft-Cache Creek Seniors’ group at our Christmas Lunch at the Ashcroft Legion. There was a good turnout for a delicious lunch of turkey with all the trimmings, followed by pumpkin pie and tea or coffee.
Everyone enjoyed the food and conversation, and we have the ladies of the Legion to thank for their efforts in producing such a great meal and for their attention to our requirements. Thank you, ladies, for all your hard work; it is much appreciated. I know at least one of you was at work on the cooking very early on Thursday morning while we were all still snug in bed!
There will be no business meeting in December, but the centre will be open as usual until carpet bowling and cards on Friday, Dec. 21, followed by bingo on Saturday, Dec. 22, after which it will be closed until after the New Year. We will re-open on Friday, Jan. 4, when our routine will kick in again: carpet bowling and card games, followed by bingo on Saturday, Jan. 5. Membership dues of $15 for 2019 may be paid now.
Our next business meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 following the potluck lunch at noon. We hope to have a visit at that time from Marilyn Anderson, our village council liaison for seniors, to discuss any concerns or suggestions about what can be done to help seniors in our communities. We would appreciate a good turnout of as many of our members as possible that day, so mark the date on your nice new calendar to remind you to attend!
This has been a year of many changes in the group, with loss of members, new members arriving here, and new executives: all changes to open up to new ideas, so drop by and join in to give us your thoughts.
A Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year, to all our friends and to all who would like to join our circle of friends. May 2019 be the best year ever!
