Raymondo Saldana Garcia is one of the many friendly faces customers will see at Desert Hills Ranch Farm Market this year.
Garcia is from Mexico and has been working at the popular farm market for five years now, traveling to Canada each year to work for eight months of the year starting in March.
We found him working at the cash register on Sunday, May 28, and struck up a conversation.
“Canada is a beautiful country. Everything is beautiful here,” said Garcia of what he loves about living in Ashcroft. “The people here are so friendly, I feel like I am home.”
Garcia said he is thankful for the work opportunity the owners of Desert Hills have given him.
Since working in Canada Garcia has travelled B.C. and taken in the sights, visiting places such as Kamloops, Hope and Vancouver with his favourite city so far being Victoria for all the flowers.
Desert Hills provides fresh, local produce grown in Ashcroft. Their customers include locals and also people from across the central and northern part of B.C. who make special trips to visit Desert Hills.
