The Rotary Club’s inaugural Garden Tour Fundraiser held on June 1 was a blooming success — bringing together garden owners, community members, master gardeners and supporters of a great cause in a celebration of nature, beauty, and generosity.
The tour featured a curated selection of six private gardens across the community, each offering its own charm — from native plant sanctuaries and lush cottage-style blooms to thoughtfully designed edible gardens and peaceful backyard retreats.
Tour participants were welcomed at each stop by garden greeters, master gardeners to answer gardening questions and garden owners who opened their gates and shared stories, planting advice, and design inspiration.
Beyond the scenic strolls and photo-worthy moments, the event had a deeper purpose. Proceeds from the tour will support the Rotary Club’s local initiatives, including programs or causes such as scholarships, food security, youth programs, or community beautification.
"Early estimates suggest the event raised $8,000 after expenses, which is wonderful for its first year helping fund impactful projects that make a difference right here at home," said a press release.
Highlights of the day included a garden with a pollinator-friendly design that drew bees, butterflies, and plenty of praise; live music at one of the tour stops; and Rotary volunteers offering friendly guidance and sharing the mission behind the event.
“We’re thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm,” said Tina Short, Rotarian and garden tour coordinator. “It’s heartening to see people connect over a shared love of gardening while supporting a cause that strengthens our community.
"Thank you to our garden hosts, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who purchased tickets. Your support planted the seeds for what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition."
