Watering restrictions
Residents of Clinton are reminded that, as of June 1, watering restrictions are in effect. Watering is permitted only from 7 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. No overnight watering is permitted.
Even-numbered properties can water on even-numbered days, and odd-numbered properties on odd-numbered days.
If you feel you need permission to water outside the times listed, please visit the Village Office to see what your options may be.
Moose calves and deer
The Clinton and District Outdoor Sportsmen Association (CADOSA) will have special guest speaker Chris Proctor, a wildlife biologist, at their meeting on June 7 at 6 p.m. He will be speaking on moose calves and deer.
The meeting will be held in the Legion basement, and members of the public are welcome to attend. As this is also the CADOSA annual general meeting, the election of executives will also be held.
Knit in Public Day
The World Wide Knit in Public Day is Saturday, June 10. Once again this year, the Clinton Museum grounds will be host to this event. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the yard beside the museum.
The mission of the World Wide Knit in Public Day is “Better Living Through Stitching Together”. The objective is to knit together to make the world smaller, warmer, and a lot more fun, sharing the passion for knitting with each other and showing the world that knitting is not a solitary act.
This is a free event, and is the largest knitting event in the world. Knitters, spinners, quilters, and all persons who enjoy handiwork are invited to attend. This is an opportunity to join the global community of people who take pride in their craft.
Everyone is welcome to join in, or drop by for a visit, chat with the crafters, and see what wonderful handiwork is being done. Free hot dogs and cake will be available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Health Care Auxiliary news
The Clinton Health Care Auxiliary held a very successful (indoor) yard sale in the Clinton Memorial Hall on Saturday, June 3. Kudos to the organizers and all who participated.
This group also had a lovely float in the recent Clinton parade, but were disappointed to find that there was no category for a not-for-profit entry. The red-and-white decked float paid tribute to the 150th Annual Ball, with twirling dancers on the float, and the red-and-white also reflected Canada’s 150th anniversary.
Rather than handing out candy to the kids along the parade route, they gave out small bottles of bubbles. They are, after all a Health Care Auxiliary. They also had a bubble machine spewing bubbles along the parade route. Well done, folks!
The next Health Care Auxiliary meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. New members are always welcome. Come and check out all of the exciting things that are happening with our Health Centre.
Council meetings
The Village of Clinton council meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. This month they will be held on June 14 and 28 beginning at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the municipal building.
As always, members of the public are welcome to attend. There is an opportunity before each meeting to ask questions about, or comment on, items that are on that meeting’s agenda.
The 2016 Annual Report will be presented at the June 14 meeting. Copies of the Annual Report are available at the Village Office during regular office hours, or from the Village website at www.village.clinton.bc.ca.
