More people are chasing "a Shuswap Experience" with the Chase Chamber & Visitor Centre reporting an increase in people coming through their doors.
At the June 24 council meeting, centre manager Christina Lutterman provided statistics for visitors in the village, whose motto is "Chase, a Shuswap Experience."
The centre was open for 988 hours in 2024 and saw “an amazing increase of visitors” of 68 per cent for a total of 2,134 over 1,267 the previous year.
She added that most centre visitors came from around B.C., but found those that accounted for the second most to be interesting.
“Here is one that will forever surprise me," Lutterman said. "Second place is locals, and when I started almost four years ago now, I was blown away by the amount of local visitors that we had coming in and it’s still going strong.”
Coming in third were visitors from Alberta.
The Chase visitor information centre (VIC) is also getting provincial recognition from Destination BC, which last year invited them to act as a "Buddy VIC" for the newly opened centre in Fort St. James. Lutterman explained they provided peer support and guidance to the new team, and shared "insights as a small but active VIC."
"This recognition reflects the growing strength of our own operations," she said in her written report.
