Canada Day celebration returns to Transfer Beach

Live music, pancakes and family fun on the waterfront July 1

Ladysmith is gearing up for a day of community celebration as the annual Canada Day festivities return to Transfer Beach on Tuesday, July 1.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offers a full day of free, family-friendly activities set against the backdrop of Ladysmith’s scenic waterfront.

Things kick off with a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m., hosted by the Ladysmith Kinsmen Club. The official ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the amphitheatre, where local dignitaries will offer words of welcome and mark the occasion.

Live music starts at 11:30 a.m. and features a line-up of local performers, including The Doctors of Rock ‘n Roll, Sarah Leo, The Offcutz and Dennis Atkins. The Doctors will bookend the show with a set at 11:30 a.m. and another at 2:15 p.m.

Old Town Bakery will be serving up Canada Day cake and there will be no shortage of entertainment for kids and families.

The Adventure Zone Daycamp team will lead outdoor games and play stations, while face painting, food trucks and interactive booths from local organizations round out the day’s offerings.

Bring your sunscreen, lawn chairs and festive spirit and join the celebration by the sea on Canada Day.
