Ashcroft RCMP responded to 43 calls for service in Ashcroft, Cache Creek, and the surrounding area during the period April 28 to May 4, 2018.
Flood season
As everyone knows, flood season is currently prevalent throughout B.C. Please be careful around any running waterways at this time. Watch for undercutting of riverbanks. And remember that if you are feeling anxious about the recent events and what has occurred in the past, reach out to family, friends, or other health care professionals. It’s okay to ask for help.
April 28 saw police in the area of the Village of Cache Creek actively assisting with traffic control during the flooding of the Village. There is currently one property under evacuation order.
Travel Centre break-in
April 29 saw a significant break-in at the Esso Travel Centre on Cornwall Road. Police are actively investigating, and have a few leads that are being followed up on. A stolen truck was located shortly after, and may be associated with this theft.
Ambulance assist
On April 30 police responded to assist the BC Ambulance Service at the OK Stop in Ashcroft. Unfortunately, a male in medical distress lost his battle and passed away.
As this was a very public location, police would like to thank all those who helped and those who showed respect during the course of the investigation. The name is being withheld for the privacy of the family.
Vehicle collision
On May 1 there was a two-vehicle collision on Old Cariboo Road and Highway 1 in Cache Creek. No injuries were reported. A towed horse trailer clipped another vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign.
A motor vehicle infraction was noted and a ticket issued. Animals on the trailer were unharmed.
