The Ashcroft Art Club’s 51st annual Fine Art Show and Sale was a great success, and seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all who came.
Attendance throughout the whole weekend was high, with more than 250 people coming through the door. Those who came from out of town also took the opportunity to check out our local restaurants, shops, and scenery, and seemed to be really enjoying all that Ashcroft has to offer.
Our Friday night opening felt more like a social event, where those who attended were able to catch up with old friends and neighbours, meet some new friends, and enjoy the great artwork on display.
Favourable comments about the show—“amazing display of artwork” … “love coming to this show” … “better than ever” … “thoroughly enjoyed the show”—were heard throughout the weekend.
As is the custom every year, each attendee was given a ballot so they could choose their favourite piece, and this year two paintings by artist Laura Hedges came out on top. “Barnes Lake” was the number one choice, while “Secrets Lake” came in at second. Congratulations, Laura!
Although the number of children coming in to view the artwork was low this year, they were excited to be given the opportunity to choose their favourite. Paintings by artists Val Keller and Judy Roy came out on top. Congratulations, Val and Judy!
As has been done in the past, an invitation was sent to Desert Sands Community School asking for student artwork to display at our show.
The club always looks forward to this, and this year everyone who came was amazed at the pieces created by the students. A big thank you goes out to art teacher Brent Close, for helping to get these pieces ready for our show, and to the talented artists who were kind enough to let us show their pieces.
The Ashcroft Art Club would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and all those who participated in this year’s show and sale. We hope to see you back again next year!
