It is with great sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Helen Stuart (nee Lash, Matheson) on April 22, 2025 at Pineridge Care Home in Kamloops, B.C. at the age of 80.
She was born on April 19, 1945 in Vancouver. She lived and went to school in Vancouver during her formative years. She later moved to North Delta with her mother Helen and step dad Bill Matheson. She attended High School in North Delta.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband; Charles Leslie (Skip) Stuart on October 20,2010 in Ashcroft BC and her Mother, Helen Matheson on Nov 26, 2003 in Ashcroft BC.
Helen is survived by her and Skips adopted Son Robert WL Stuart (Michelle) of Calgary AB and three step- children Tim (his son David (Myranda) and Granddaughter Charlotte; Andy (Teresa) and Heidi Stuart.
Helen worked at Dayton Boots in Vancouver in the seventies and she enjoyed this job very much as she could run all the machinery. (Dayton Boots burnt down within 8 hours of Helen's passing) Helen managed two Mohawk gas stations in the area from 1984 through 1995. She also did other jobs including Foresells Plant nursery in Surrey and at Semlin Valley Golf Course in Cache Creek. She learned how to play golf and did very well at it.
Helen joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1971 and enjoyed being a Sorority Sister, meeting more people, and holding various positions in her Chapter. She enjoyed the social activities with the girls and the events that the Husbands could attend up until 1980 when her and the family moved to Ashcroft as Skip got a Mechanic job in Ashcroft (Ken Meyer GM) then he and Helen took over the Mohawk gas station and garage in Cache creek and later he opened his own shop Skips Automotive in Ashcroft.
Helen had health issues and was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for care In February 2024 where she spent several weeks but her health deteriorated and was no longer able to return to her home in Ashcroft. She was later moved to the Pineridge Care home in Kamloops BC and she passed away at the home on April 22nd 2025.
The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Inland Hospital and Pineridge Care Home in Kamloops for Helen's care.
The family is considering a gathering at a later date, notification will be made via The Journal.
